| Wonik was founded in April, 1981 as Wonil Trade that imported lighting components and changed its firm name to Wonik Trade in 1984. In 1985, Chairman Lee undertook the administration right of QME Korea that manufactured and sold quartz ware, one of the parts related to semiconductor, and promoted quartz ware business regularly.
QME Korea changed its firm name to Wonik Quartz Corporation and listed stocks on KOSDAQ in July 1977.
When listing stocks on KOSDAQ, the firm name was Wonik Quartz Corporation and it was changed to Wonik Corporation in 1998. Wonik absorbed and combined with Wonik Trade Corporation in September 1998 and established the predecessor of Wonik Corporation In November 2003, to reinforce the specialties of each business and raise the efficiency of management, Wonik split the quartz ware section as Wonik Quartz Corporation and reorganized Wonik Co. Ltd for import and sales of medical instruments and other products and for management of investment and property.
Wonik has accomplished solid growth extending its business fields starting from the import and sales of lighting components in 1981 to high-tech medical devices including endoscope and laser as well as materials used in semiconductor, electricity, electronics, and communication. Wonik is playing a pivotal role in the activation of domestic industry and development through importing materials and products of good quality necessary in domestic industry at stable and good prices from leading companies from all around the world and supplying them to domestic market.
In August 2003, Wonik made inroads into new business field of importing Volvo vehicles, expecting synergy with it for Wonik has secured a large volume of databases of excellent client list accumulated through import and sales of medical instruments. |
